Now here’s the story from A to Z…

I grew up in the small town of Hood River, Oregon. It’s one of the most beautiful places on the planet, which obviously I did not appreciate at all when I was a kid. I went to college at the University of Oregon where I majored in International Studies and in Spanish and graduated with honors and phi beta kappa designation. I moved to Portland and began working as an immigration paralegal with an ambitious plan for law school. Then - twist: the longer I worked in law, the more I realized lawyering wasn’t for me. But I loved helping people, and that has guided me professionally as I honed my skills as an advocate and communicator.

And I write. I’ve been contributing to print and online publications for over a decade, covering a broad range of topics. I try to write things that can bring people joy and levity; there’s a lot of dark shit going on, and it’s okay to look away for a minute. Stick with me and I’ll try to make you laugh.

I live in Portland with my partner, our daughter, and two extremely dumb cats. I enjoy watching television, eating carbs, and encouraging you to do what makes you happy.
